Beach

A private path leads from the grounds and onto a picturesque wooden bridge over a lagoon and onto the beach. This area is a veritable bird sanctuary as the island is home to myriad species of birds. Especially notable are the Roseate Spoonbill (that showy pink bird) and nesting Bald Eagles.  Also often seen here are Pelicans, Herons, Anhingas, Egrets and the usual Terns, Sandpipers and Seagulls.

Our Blind Pass beach lies alongside Sanibel Island's famous Bowman's Beach -- consistently rated at the top of the world's best beach lists.  It is especially known for its great sea shelling.

Situated in the Gulf of Mexico on a geographical slant, Sanibel Island is an ideal catching grounds for fantastic shells. More than 400 species of colorful shells including coquinas, scallops, whelks, sand dollars and deeper water mollusks wash in. At the end of a stay on Sanibel Island, visitors leave with what is known as the Sanibel Stoop -- developed during the compelling search for that perfect souvenir shell.
